Engrade & Awarding Points
Engrade:
Throughout this term and for all terms to follow, I will be using an online grade book called “Engrade”. This is an awesome online grade book that allows you the student to sign up for an account and view your current grade in my class. Go to http://www.engrade.com/ and click on the link that says “Students & Parents”. Then click on “create an account” at the bottom of the Students & Parents page. Once you have done that you will see you will need to enter a student Id. This is how it works:
engrade-cpendragon-HOL ID for example my account ID would be engrade-cpendragon-pr_pen
Then fill out the form regularly. But please make sure your username is your HOL name!
Awarding Points:
House points will not be awarded until after the due date of homework has passed. House points will be awarded no later than the 15th of the following month. For example, if you completed the September Homework, house points can be awarded for those assignments as late as October 15th. If you have not received your house points by the proper date, please contact me as I may not have received your assignment.
Grades
Homework: 120 points total (30 points each)
Extra Credit: 80 points total (20 points each)
Project: 100 points total
Total Points: 300 Points
Homework
Homework is given with each lesson. Homework includes short answer questions, and essays. The homework is meant to reinforce the information covered in class and is not meant to be busy work. All homework must be eOwled to
prof.pendragon@gmail.com. Homework must include your full HOL name, your HOL ID, and the homework title (ex. Homework 1). No late work is accepted, unless a valid excuse can be supplied before the assignment is due. Homework assignments are worth 30 points each, and are worth 120 points total.
Extra Credit
All homework assignments include extra credit. Each extra credit assignment allows the student to do more work on the lesson’s topic than required, but still be rewarded for going above and beyond. Each lesson has an extra credit assignment worth up to 10 points. Throughout the term students have the ability to earn up to 50 points in this course.
Project
Each student must complete the project in order to pass this course. The purpose of the project is to compile all the knowledge learned throughout the term into an assignment that offers an large number of points. The project will be more work than any single homework because it will tie together the topics covered in each lesson. The project is worth a total of 100 points.
